Research ethics in Idu Mishmi-inhabited regions launched

The Idu Mishmi Cultural and Literary Society (IMCLS) released the second edition of the book of Idu Mishmi Code on Research Ethics (IMCRE) on Sunday at the Central Rehko in Cheta here in Lower Dibang Valley district.

The IMCRE is a complete and must guideline on ethical research practices in the Mishmi hills of Dibang Valley and Lower Dibang Valley districts and the Idu Mishmi-inhabited regions in Upper Siang, East Siang and Lohit districts.

IMCLS reiterates appeal to halt process of notifying DWLS as tiger reserve

The Idu-Mishmi Cultural and Literary Society (IMCLS) has reiterated its appeal to halt the process of notifying the Dibang Wildlife Sanctuary (DWLS) as a tiger reserve until the longstanding grievances of the Idu-Mishmi community are resolved.

On Saturday, a sub-committee on behalf of the IMCLS met the minister for forest and submitted a reminder letter regarding the DWLS and the proposed tiger reserve.

Engage indigenous people and local communities as equal partners in conservation: IMCLS

The Idu Mishmi Cultural and Literary Society (IMCLS) has urged the Arunachal Pradesh Biodiversity Board to engage the indigenous people and local communities (IPLCs) as equal partners, in a seven pointer submission to the State Biodiversity Board (SBB) and WWF, towards drafting the State Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (SBSAP).

IMCLS launches Mishmi (Idu) dictionary app

The Idu Mishmi Cultural and Literary Society (IMCLS) launched an online and offline Mishmi (Idu) dictionary app at the Cheta Rehko here in Lower Dibang Valley district on Sunday. The app was launched by former IMCLS president Jatan Pulu.

Pulu lauded the initiative taken by the IMCLS under the guidance of its president Ginko Linggi, and said that it was the need of the hour. Linggi informed that the main objective behind launching the app was language preservation.

Idu Mishmi textiles GI certificate handed over to IMCLS

30 November 2019

A workshop on ‘the significance of intellectual property rights and geographical indication (IPR&GI)’ was organized here in Lower Dibang Valley district on Friday as a follow-up to the geographical indication (GI) tagging that the Idu Mishmi community obtained for its textiles recently.
The certificate of the Idu Mishmi textiles GI registration was handed over to the community during the event.

Idu Mishmi's seek consultation on Dibang tigers, say WII report contains false claim

The Idu Mishmi Cultural & Literary Society (IMCLS) has written to the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) and the union ministry of environment, forests & climate change (MoEFCC), stating that the community wishes to be consulted during deliberations on the Dibang tigers as the organization has forwarded a cultural model of tiger conservation.
