GI Tag for Textiles
Idu Mishmi Textiles are exquisite handloom creations woven by Idu Mishmi women of Arunachal Pradesh’s Dibang Valley. Rich in symbolism and tradition, these textiles reflect the community’s cultural identity. With rising imitations and loss of authenticity, a Geographical Indication (GI) tag is vital to protect their heritage and support the weavers’ livelihoods.
Idu Mishmi Language and Development Committee (IMLDC)
The Idu Mishmi Language Development Committee (IMLDC) works to preserve and promote the Idu language through a writing system that blends linguistic precision with cultural pride—bridging tradition and modernity to keep the language alive for future generations.
Interpretation, Preservation & Documentation (IPD)
Once central to every village, the sacred Igu (Shaman) tradition of the Idu Mishmis now stands on the edge of fading. To safeguard this priceless heritage, the IMCLS formed the IPD-IGU Committee under Er. Ginkgo Lingi and Shri Rao Dele, documenting only 67 remaining Igus, many of whom are aging keepers of ancient wisdom.
Research Ethics Review Board (RERB)
The RERB is a subcommittee of IMCLS responsible for reviewing and approving all research conducted in the Mishmi Hills. To guide this process, the Idu Mishmi Code of Research Ethics was developed to ensure that all research respects community values and ethical standards.
