Idu Mishmi Textiles are beautiful, traditional handloom products crafted by the Idu Mishmi women of Arunachal Pradesh, particularly in the twin districts of Dibang Valley. Known for their intricate, nature-inspired geometric patterns, these textiles carry our rich heritage, with weaving skills lovingly passed down through generations.

Applying for a Geographical Indication (GI) tag helps us protect our unique craft from imitation and misuse. It also creates better opportunities for our community by promoting authentic products, giving us fair recognition and income, while keeping this age-old weaving tradition alive for the future.

Introduction

The successful Geographical Indication (GI) registration of Idu Mishmi textiles inspired us to organize and strengthen our collective efforts. As a self-help group (SHG) led by women, we manage and sustain this initiative with pride. Entirely community-driven, all products are sourced and rebranded within the Idu Mishmi community under the banner of IMCLS.

Our goal goes beyond business — it’s a women-led effort to protect, promote, and preserve our traditional handicrafts while turning them into a successful entrepreneurial journey.

Workshops & Awareness Drives

Workshops and awareness programs form a key part of our efforts to support and train local artisans. Our Idu Mishmi textiles reflect the rich heritage carried forward by Idu women, whose skill and attention to detail have preserved this craft for generations. These programs focus on market resilience, product diversification, and sustaining traditional practices.
